My Food...

I grew up not knowing how to cook. My idea of dinner when my husband met me was either a bowl of cereal or a bag of microwaved popcorn.

I have always loved to EAT food in my adult life, so it was of great luck when my husband decided to go to culinary school.

I believe his becoming a foodie entitled me to learn to cook and my repertoire of recipes has expanded from the very basic... chocolate chip cookies

to the more advanced...homemade chicken pot pie with a made from scratch dough topper laced with fleur de sel.

With kids in the mix now, I do enjoy making homemade dinners.  Time can be an issue sometimes.

I have insisted on feeding the girls organic foods as much as possible.  You would think that living in the country, I would have access to an array of organic foods, but the choices can be slim sometimes.  The city had a lot more selections for us.

We do try to grow our own veggies in the summer and have plenty of family members who garden and share.  Local is the best way really.

There's also a great Amish organic grocery that we travel to every few months to stock up on chicken and turkey.  They have a great selection of hard to find items.

I love:
homemade breads and doughs
fresh chives
cheese of any kind
pickles, pizza and pasta, though not all together
roast chicken

I loathe:
heavily processed foods for kids, especially Lunchables
mushrooms
beef
cooked onions
